Want to get glowing skin? Here are my give tips to make your skin look radiant!
Stay hydrated
I firmly believe that drinking enough water is essential for my skin to look its best. Although not everyone agrees with me, when made an effort to drink water throughout the day I begin to notice a difference in my skin. When my body is hydrated it is reflected in the look of my skin.
Exfoliate your skin
Exfoliation removes layers of dead skin and reveals the fresh skin below. You can't moisturise dead skin back to life so it's a much better idea to get rid of it, I exfoliate my skin two to three times a week. If you're looking for manual exfoliaters for your face I'd recommend these, but if you'd prefer chemical/AHA exfoliaters (products that you don't have to rub into your skin) I really like this one from Elemental Herbology and this one from Madara. If you're looking for exfoliating products for your body then I'd recommend this one from & Other Stories, or I'd highly recommend dry brushing as a more affordable alternative.
Moisturise
Once you've exposed your fresh skin its important to look after it. I moisturise my skin often and use different products in the morning and evening. In the morning I like to use a moisturiser that contains SPF (A-Derma do a wonderful light hydrating fluid with SPF that sits wonderfully under make-up) and in the evening I like to apply facial oils (which I find really help even out my skin tone) followed by thicker face creams, like this one from Origins. For my body, I tend to opt for body oils (I like these ones from Roger & Gallet and Lanolips) or body creams or butters with nourishing ingredients like shea butter.
Prime your skin
Although exfoliation and moisturisation are important, the products you use to prime your skin before makeup can make a big difference. To achieve a glowing complexion I like to use Vichy's Idealia Serum and Eye Cream or for slightly warmer or darker skin tones I would recommend Bourjois' Skin Illuminator in the shade Bare Light. Adding products like this into your routine will help give skin a natural looking glow, and they can be used even if you don't intend to wear any make-up.
Choose the right make-up
If you do choose to wear make-up but still want your skin to look glowing and fresh then it's important to choose the right make-up. If you have dry skin, opt for a foundation or tinted moisturiser with a dewy finish and follow up by adding highlighter to the high points of your face (especially your cheekbones). The highlighters I like using are Benefit's High Beam and RMS Beauty's Living Luminizer. If you have oily skin, find something that will work for your skin but that isn't too matte, completely matte make-up can leave your skin looking a bit flat and dull. Find a foundation or tinted moisturiser that helps mattify but that still has a slightly dewy appearance, and don't be afraid to use highlighter. I'd also opt for lighter tones of lipstick and blusher - for instance, I'd reach for light pinks and apricots instead of dark nudes - that suit your skin tone but that work to give your overall complexion a lighter and brighter finish.
I hope my tips have given you some useful starting points for achieving a glowing complexion - if you have any more questions just leave me a comment or tweet me if you want a quicker response.
