New Goodies from Illamasqua

one little vice beauty blog

I love Illamasqua's makeup, and although I often visit the London Beak Street store I do usually wait until their seasonal sales before I make my purchases. There are quite a few products that I'd purchase outside of the sales, but every single year I try and pick up a new blush and lipstick once they've been reduced.

Illamasqua's Cream Blushers have a really thin, creamy texture that makes them really easy to apply and blend, for a semi-sheer and build-able finish. Since I started blogging I've used nearly every shade from Illamasqua's range, but the one shade that's been missing has been Illamasqua's Cream Blush in Zygomatic (£22.00). It's the most gorgeous barely-there nude-pink and I think I've been lusting after this colour for at-least two years. For a long time I put off purchasing it because I had some really similar shades from Stila's Convertible Colour range. However, I recently threw out a lot of my cream blushes (due to their age) and found myself in need of a replacement nude-pink shade.

I'm so glad that I finally bought Zygomatic as I've found that it works so well on my fair skin. It offers a really subtle dose of colour that helps to sculpt and shape my face. If you're a fan of bronzer and often skip out on blusher, then stop that this instant and introduce a shade like Zygomatic into your routine. I've found that even a tiny amount of this blush shade can seriously lift and brighten my cheeks without getting in the way of my bronzer habit. It's a massive hit in my books, and if you're very fair then I'd highly recommend giving it a try.

The other product I purchased is Illamasqua's Matte Lipstick in Corrupt (£19.50). It's been a while since I wore one of Illamasqua's matte lipsticks as I'm now more of a fan of their satin lipstick finish, but when it comes to bright out-there lipstick shades I do still favour a matte formulation. Corrupt is a bright blue-toned pink that's quite a bold choice for me, and definitely out of my comfort zone. I noticed recently that I don't actually own very many pink lipsticks, and every time I went to wear one I just couldn't find what I was looking for. Cue this purchase, and now I feel like I've got the bright and light pink base covered.

The finish of Illamasqua's matte lipsticks is pretty drying, and I really do notice it on my lips. However, the upside is that they offer incredibly long wear times, which is what gives me the confidence to wear a colour like this. If you can handle a dry (but not uncomfortable) lipstick formula then I'd highly recommend these, but for everyday and more wearable shades I would probably opt for the satin formulation as they're much more comfortable.

So those are my new Illamasqua goodies! I should really slow down a little bit on the beauty hauling, but I do think that I'll be purchasing the Gel Sculpt Contouring product to wear during the summer.

Have you tried anything from Illamasqua before?

  1. The Illamasqua blushes sound absolutely gorgeous! The shade you've picked up is so pretty, I would try and spell the name but I know I'll get it wrong!
