Not so long ago, I fell in love with Benefit's Porefessional (link to my review here) and have since been on the hunt for a primer than I liked as much. There have been a few constants in my life over the last two years, L'Oreal's Lumi Magique Primer is wonderful at target highlighting and, of course, a mainstay of mine has been The Body Shop's Tea Tree Pore Minimiser (link to my review here) which I like to use on my t-zone. However, I've had the urge to try something new for a while now.
When I went shopping last week, I got chatting to the wonderful sales assistant working at the Smashbox counter in my local Boots and I asked her about Smashbox's primers - they have a whole range of different ones. She very kindly gave me a sample of their Photo Finish Foundation Primer (the white coloured sample) and the Photo Matte Anti Shine Primer (the nude coloured sample). You might be surprised, but the amount of product in my photos above lasted me four full-face applications. A little goes a very long way, and both primers made an incredible difference to the look and wear-time of my make-up. Both apply pretty colourlessly to the skin but they both offer a great base for the application of make-up. The Photo Matte Anti Shine Primer had a more powdery, matte finish on the skin than the Photo Finish Foundation Primer which feels more hydrating but still offers a nice 'buffer' between skin and make-up.
Both really impressed me and this is one of those occasions when samples have completely won me over! I'll be looking into purchasing both of these in the coming weeks (as soon as I feel I can afford them). I'm now also very keen to try other products from Smashbox, their cream eyeshadows and liners look like a good place to head to next!

What make-up primers do you like using? Have you tried anything from Smashbox before?

The Anti Shine primer sounds pretty nice! I've never tried any Smashbox products, I'd quite like to try this but then again I'm really loving Pop Beauty's Face Magnet primer at the moment for keeping my skin matte :)

Smashbox have such a good primer range but never tried any of them! I've always wanted to try the light, oil free version of the standard photo finish xx
