I didn't write an Empties post last month because I was on the last dregs of so many products but hadn't finished many off. As a result, this month features a whole host of empties and I feel like I'm losing some of my essentials left, right and centre. It does mean that I've got space in my routine to try out some new things (which I am quite excited about) so there will inevitably be some exciting new additions that I'll talk about in posts over the next month or two. For now, I'll crack on with some mini-reviews of the things I've finished and will let you know if I would repurchase them or not.
Benefit Moon Beam
Benefit's highlighters have been one of the high end beauty treats that I've loved ever since I first started wearing make-up. I had Moon Beam for years and it's finally empty! I don't often finish make-up (it just seems to last and last) so I'm both happy and sad to see this one leave. I don't think Benefit stocks Moon Beam anymore but I've written a post featuring a drugstore dupe that you might be interested if you like long-lasting liquid highlighters - (link to swatches (and dupes) here).
L'Occitane Cherry Blossom Shower Gel
L'Occitane's Cherry Blossom range is absolutely gorgeous! It's one of my favourite spring/summer scents (I actually often wear L'Occitane's Cherry Blossom Solid Perfume - link to my review here - which is a great budget-friendly fragrance). I loved the shower gel, it lathered beautifully and the scent lingers really delicately on the skin. I would purchase this full size in the future, but for now I'm using my Original Source Coconut Shower Gel which I mentioned in this post.
L'Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate
L'Occitane's Almond range is one of my favourites and their Almond Milk Concentrate is one of my ultimate holy grail products. I adore the scent and the gel consistency. I find it works miracles on sunburnt skin and I like to use it on an everyday basis on my neck and décolletage. I finished this small 30ml pot and now I'm working my way through another 200ml full size jar. I always repurchase this as it is one of my high end favourites. (link to my review here)
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
I'd been saving the last little bit of Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish for days when I had a particularly full face of make-up to get rid of and using it up reminded me of how much I like this cleanser. If you like to wear lots of make up and you want a thorough cleanse that won't strip your skin then I'd definitely recommend it. I already have another tube to use although it isn't the next cleanser I'll be moving on to for everyday cleansing but I will crack it out when I feel like I need it. (link to my review here)
Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate
This was my go-to facial oil for months and I was slow to fall in love with it but I did by the time I was through. It is expensive and I do think there are good alternatives that are cheaper (such as this one here) but I would like to use it again and I'd definitely recommend it. (link to my review here)
Kerastase Cristaliste Conditioner
This conditioner was one of my 2013 staples and I couldn't have gone without it. It is a wonderful product for long, fine hair and it lasted me the entire year (using it every other wash - about twice a week). I'd highly recommend it and I'll definitely be buying it again in the future. (link to my review here)
Philosophy Purity Cleanser
I used this 30ml Philosophy cleanser over quite a long period of time so I haven't ever used it for a sustained period, which is why I haven't given it a full review on my blog. I love the feel of it on the skin and it does a great job of cleansing but I think it is an overpriced product. I would like to try it again but only if I received it as a gift, it isn't something I'd buy for myself.
Lush Randy Butter Buttercream
This was the first shower "Buttercream" that I've tried from Lush and I have to admit that I wasn't too impressed. I was hoping it might be a good alternative to my much beloved L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil but it just wasn't that moisturising. The scent was also very hit or miss as it was incredibly boozy! All in all, it was fun to try but I wouldn't repurchase it or recommend it. (link to my big Lush boxing day haul here)
Lush Roots Hair Mask
I picked this up in the hopes that it would be a good hair mask option fine hair - and that it might also help stimulate hair growth. I don't know if it has helped my hair grow more but it is a wonderful hair mask and I will definitely be repurchasing it again soon. (link to my review here)
Good Things Fresh Start Creamy Cleanser
I've mentioned Good Things a few times in the past but this cream cleanser has been a joy to use over the last couple of months. If you're in the market for an affordable cleanser I'd highly recommend it and I'd definitely buy it again! (link to my review here)
The Body Shop Satsuma Beautifying Oil
I really like The Body Shop's beautifying oils, I tried the Moringa scent last year which is great if you like floral scents (you can read about that here) but I definitely think that I prefer the Satsuma option. The body oil itself is a good moisturising option but it isn't the best one I've tried. What it does offer is a very long lasting fragrance on the skin which I love. I'd recommend giving the beautifying oils a try if you find a scent you like. (link to my Body Shop Haul & Review here)
Elemis FreshSkin Skin Glow Exfoliating Face Wash
I really enjoyed this Exfoliating Face Wash - if I remember correctly I got it in a beauty box last year and just spent a long time getting around to using it! As much as I liked it, I think that there are other exfoliaters I liked better so I probably wouldn't repurchase it. Although, if it ended up in my hands again I would have no problem using it - I just won't be going out to replace it any time soon. (link to my review here)
Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream
I've had this for ages! I bought it a while ago and never got around to using it until recently. As soon as I opened the tub I went through it quite quickly and I must admit that I was really impressed. It is a really thick, deeply hydrating moisturiser and I loved how it left my skin feeling. I would definitely repurchase it and I think it is a great budget-friendly option that I'd definitely recommend.
Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask
This Antipodes mask is absolutely gorgeous and it does wonders to tired and uneven skin. I loved it and am very sad to see it go! I'll definitely be getting another tube sometime in the next couple of months, although I am considering trying out Aesop's Parsley Seed Mask next as I've heard that it is quite similar. (link to my review)
Lots and lots of products have left my life this month! I'd love to know if you've finished anything that you'd recommend to me, or if you've tried any of the products that I've mentioned in this post.
I wanted for a while to try the hair masks from Lush. I think I will give them a go.
ReplyDeleteThe Good Things Cleanser - my favourite - has been discontinued unfortunately! They are bringing out a new manuka honey version in a few weeks though x
ReplyDeleteI've had so many samples of the L'Occitane almond range and it's absolutely beautiful, their shower oil is my favourite.
