All Method, No Madness

one little vice lifestyle blog: green cleaning products from Method

one little vice lifestyle blog: cruelty free cleaning products

Method offer an extensive range of cleaning and laundry products that are free from "dirty" ingredients - all housed in specially designed packaging to stop you from instantly wanting to hide them under the sink! Method was set up in California back in 2001 (by two former roomates - Adam Lowry and Eric Ryan) and the brand went from strength to strength in the U.S. before finally being made available in the UK in 2005.

But what's actually different about Method?
What makes them an interesting brand?

Well, in terms of their sales, Method is the largest green cleaning products brand, producing non-toxic, biodegradable and natural cleaning supplies. Not is Method a cruelty-free brand (Adam and Eric were actually named PETA People of the Year in 2006) but, unlike most other cleaning products, they're also completely safe to use in a house with animals. Aditionally, Method have made social and environmental change a company objective - taking innovative steps to reduce the brand's carbon footprint. One small part of this is that all of their bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic, are completely recyclable, and their bottles are designed specifically to try and minimize waste.

In short - Method offers green and cruelty-free cleaning products, in the greenest packaging they can. And as a brand Method is commited to improving and bettering themselves for the benefit of our planet.

If you're interested in changing your habitual products and routines and making greener choices across all areas of your life then Method is a good brand to consider. Their products are easily available in Waitrose, but recently I've also spotten them in my local Tescos and Sainsburys. Unlike other green cleaning products that I've tried in the past, Method's products really do work - you're not going to have to compromise on effectiveness. Price-wise the Hand Wash come in at £2.50 and other products, such as All-Purpose Surface Cleaner and Dish Soap are both priced at £3-£3.50. All their range enjoys these sorts of prices, apart from the Laundry Detergent which, as you might expect, is priced slightly higher £5.99.

Method's products are available in a range of fragrances and the latest release - coming to shop shelves soon - is Sunset Beach. It's supposed to smell like "sand, surf and sunset" but I think that it actually has a very gentle and unobtrusive fragrance with a slight citrus twist. As pretty as the packaging is for this range, I actually prefer Method's Pear fragrance as it leaves your bathroom or kitchen smelling like pears after every use!

Have you heard of Method before?
Would you consider swapping your cleaning products to greener alternatives?

This post is not sponsored by Method, but the products in this post were gifted to me by the brand.
However, I've purchased Method products in the past and I'll continue to do so - I like them!

  2. I have been using a couple of method cleaning products but their hand wash & washing up liquid both have SLS in still so I won't use those, such a shame!

  3. I really love Method products; I like to use their cleaning sprays in the kitchen - the bottles are huge and last for ages! I love the scent options, too. xxx
