Antipodes Natural and Organic Skincare Reviews

onelittlevice beauty blog

It's no secret that I love Antipodes' range of natural and organic skincare as I've talked about their products on my blog many, many times over the last few years. Earlier this year Antipodes actually got in touch with me and offered to send me a couple of their products to try out and it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. It's a real pleasure to be able to work with brands that you love and after using the products for a couple of months I'm very happy to say that I'm still yet to be disappointed!

Antipodes Joyful Hand and Body Cream* | £28.99

I first discovered this gorgeous body moisturiser last year when I was at the Natural and Organic Product Show. I had the opportunity to handle all of Antipodes products in person for the first time and I fell head over heels in love with Joyful's beautiful, natural, blackcurrant fragrance. When I apply this to my skin, the refreshing fruity scent immediately lifts my mood and brings back wholesale memories of my childhood - probably the times when I was drinking Ribena, the diet coke of my youth! The texture of the cream is light, and quickly absorbed, but it still makes a noticeable improvement to the very dry skin on my hands. I find that this makes a particularly luxurious hand cream (I find the pinky-purple metallic tube incredibly luxe) but the texture of the product makes it totally suitable for total body application. I really like to use these sorts of effective but lightweight moisturisers on my arms and décolletage right before I leave the house, not only does this make the most of the almost instantaneous absorption rate but you then also get to really enjoy the beautiful fragrance. For me, this is an absolute and total winner. It has everything I'd want from a body cream at this price point as I really love the packaging, fragrance and results. I would definitely repurchase this in the future and I also think that it would make a fabulous gift, as it comes housed in a pretty matching box. If you know anyone with a summer birthday then blackcurrant your way into their heart.

Antipodes Divine Face Oil* | £19.99

A couple of years ago I used to use this facial oil religiously! I remember how much of a marked improvement it made to the redness in my cheeks and to the marks left behind by blemishes. However, as I'm now a little older and have slightly different skin concerns (mainly dehydration and stubborn dry patches), this time around I didn't notice as big a difference when I introduced it into my skincare routine. As I remembered, this oil absorbs into my skin almost instantly which makes it perfect for both morning or evening application, and it does leave my skin feeling more hydrated. Yet, it didn't leave my skin feeling as plump and youthful as argan oil (my favourite is MyChelle's Advanced Argan Oil). Overall, I found that this became a welcome part of my routine because I enjoyed applying it (I love the lightweight texture), but my skin just didn't benefit from it as much as it did when I used it previously. If you combination/oily/blemished skin then I would highly recommend referring to my full-length review of Antipodes Divine Face Oil, which I wrote back in 2013.

Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream* | £27.99

I think I've definitely saved the best for last. As much as I love Joyful, Antipodes' Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream was, by far, the product that brought me the most joy. Initially, I was worried that the thick, rich texture would be too heavy for my skin. But I needn't have worried, the creamy texture was positively dreamy to apply and it left my skin plump and glowing. I found that it made a marked improvement to the dryness in my cheeks and left my skin visibly smoother and much softer to the touch. Honestly, I think this is the best 'rich' day cream that I've ever tried. I usually really struggle to find the right sort of moisturiser because of my combination skin and I opt to layer lightweight products (ie. a lightweight oil/gel serum with a lightweight gel/gel-cream moisturiser). However, this Antipodes Day Cream is a one-pot wonder and did a lot for my skin with just one daily application. If you have dry or dehydrated skin then based on the results I've experienced I would definitely recommend it. I didn't have any issues with blemishes either (another concern that I can have with 'heavier' cream products), and it's ever-so-slightly sweet natural fragrance was a lovely cherry on the cake.

Antipodes are, without a doubt, one of my favourite skincare brands in terms of ultimate customer satisfaction. I've yet to stumble across any dud products, and I always feel as though the packaging and product outperforms the price tag. Antipodes is actually one of the brands that I most often gift to friends and family members - they have a universal appeal across genders too - my dad is a total convert. Antipodes is available from natural and organic retailers such as As Nature Intended, but I usually purchase my products online from FeelUnique (keep an eye out for discount codes).

  1. I've tried quite a bit of Antipodes and generally like their products, though not everything has been a hit. The face oil is fairly good though I feel I can achieve similar results with cheaper face oils (like plain argan or rosehip). The day cream is a bit on the rich side but good for winter. My favourite product from Antipodes would have to be the Joyous Protein-Rich Night Replenish Serum - it's a miracle worker for dry skin!

    1. I know what you mean regarding the facial oil - I feel like it really depends on your skin concerns. I also thought the day cream was on the rich side, but surprisingly it did wonders for my skin! Anything that heavy that I've tried before has just broken me out, but the Vanilla Day Cream left my skin incredibly soft and radiant. I've tried two of their serums and I really liked them both. I think my favourite is definitely the Manuka Honey Mask - I've seen some mixed reviews, but for me it does a really good job of gently cleansing my pores without drying out my skin. I must have repurchased it at least three or four times now! And if I could afford to regularly repurchase Antipodes body creams then I could definitely see myself using a lot of the Joyful body cream.
