Fair Squared is a brand based in Germany who offer vegan, cruelty free and fair trade beauty products. I first discovered Fair Squared when I received one of their hand creams in my Love Lula natural beauty subscription box (a service that I'd highly recommend) and I was really impressed with the quality of their beauty products - especially as they're relatively affordable. I was recently contacted by the brand who offered to not only send me some products to try out but also to give some away to my readers. I very gratefully accepted and here we are today!
The first product that I was sent is this Apricot Shaving Oil. I've been using a shaving oil for years but it isn't from a cruelty-free brand and I'm always on the look out for good alternatives. I have to admit, this shaving oil isn't quite what I expected as it doesn't have any foaming qualities when it comes into contact with water - meaning it doesn't produce any lather, which many shaving products have. However, Fair Squared's Shaving Oil is packed full of natural oils and it does still result in a really close shave. Additionally, I find that using a product that's oil based always leaves my skin feeling and looking softer and healthier, so on that basis I'd definitely like to keep using it. Initially I was concerned that the product might have a strong apricot scent but it's actually very subtle and doesn't really interfere with other fragranced products that you might be using. This is because the product contains fair trade apricot kernel oil (as well as other oils such as olive oil and sweet almond oil) rather than any synthetic fragrance. I really enjoy using this product and I'd definitely recommend it.
I've been using Fair Squared's Vanilla Shower Gel for about a month now - and I adore it. Initially I actually asked to try the Lime Shower Gel but when one of the Vanilla Shower Gels (which were all meant to be for me to give away as prizes) arrived with a broken pump I decided to keep this one for myself so that all the prizes were brand new and completely intact. It turned out to be quite a happy accident as I actually adore the natural vanilla fragrance! It's the most perfect sweet-but-not-too-sweet scent and the consistency of the gel is thick and nourishing, probably because it contains olive oil. If you have dry skin then opting for gentle and non-drying body care is a must, especially in the cooler, drier months. I'm really impressed with he formula of this shower gel and I'd repurchase it in a heartbeat.
After I get out of the shower I've been following up by using Fair Squared's Coffee Body Lotion. Initially, I thought that this was going to have a really strong coffee scent - which I would really have loved - but it doesn't at all. It's main hydrating ingredients are olive oil and grapeseed oil, but the texture of the lotion isn't too heavy and the product is absorbed into my skin pretty quickly. I feel as though it combines the moisturising properties of the oils and the fast-absorbing action of a lotion really, really well - it's the best of both worlds. The coffee extract, rather than heavily fragrance the product, is supposed to help revitalise fatigued or ageing skin and I've also heard on the grapevine that it's a great product for use on cellulite. Personally, I enjoy using this all over my body for effective and long-lasting moisturisation. For a body lotion it's pretty fantastic, but I don't think it quite beats some of my old favourites (such as Pacifica's Blood Orange Body Butter) to the top spot.
Fair Squared very kindly sent me three sets of prizes to give away, so three of my readers will be able to receive one Fair Squared Shower Gel and one Fair Squared Lip Balm (all three prizes are pictured together above). All you have to do is follow the instructions in the rafflecopter form below for your chance to win. This competition is open internationally, so anyone who follows One Little Vice is eligible to enter. Good luck, and as always thank you very much for your continued support!
