Easy to Wear Everyday Eye Makeup

one little vice beauty blog: simple quick everyday makeup

As much as I love experimenting with new makeup, I do also fall into routines. It's convenient to have products that you feel really comfortable using - that you know you can rely on. If I'm in a rush, or I'm just feeling a little bit uncreative, then I do have a fall-back eye makeup routine. In four steps I can transform my look from relatively un-done to something that looks a lot smarter - and it's surprisingly quick and easy!

Urban Decay Primer Potion (travel size) | rrp £8.00

I've been using Urban Decay's Primer Potion since the beginning of January and it's completely revolutionised my relationship with eyeshadows. I have quite hooded eyelids and I've always struggled with eyeshadow and eyeliner transfer - it just never has ever wanted to stay put and as a result, I barely used to wear eyeshadow. However, the hype over this little eyelid primer really isn't misplaced, it does everything you could hope for. Not only do I find that my eyeshadow no-longer transfers but it also lasts all day. It's one of those little beauty revelations that's almost too good to be true. If you've been putting off investing in a luxury eyeshadow primer then I'd really suggest giving one a go. Because I was so sceptical, I picked up the travel size of the Primer Potion and it's lasting really well. Although it feels like a pricey investment it's definitely been worthwhile. I'd definitely repurchase it in the future - although I would also like to try the Nars eyeshadow primer too.

On top of the Urban Decay Primer Potion I've been layering on my relatively new little eyeshadow duo from Bare Minerals. I love the quality of their eyeshadows, they're buttery soft and they wear so well throughout the day - especially now I have such a good primer. The Top Shelf is a very pretty little duo - I swatched the shades in an earlier blog post (link here) - featuring a beautiful semi-sheer shimmering pink and a warm, golden bronze. I like to wear these two colours together, layering the pink all over my lid before adding some of the gold at the outer corners and through my crease. Together they really brighten my eyes by emphasising their colour, and because they're not matte shades I find that they also add a touch of glamour - but not too much. I find it easier to use a duo on an everyday basis because I'm not tempted to try new colour combinations at the last minute that almost always end up looking disastorous. It's effortless because I know I can't go wrong, and for everyday makeup this is exactly what I need from my products.

one little vice beauty blog: eye of horus, green people, bare minerals, urban decay

When I want to add a little bit more definition to my upper lash line I normally reach for a black liquid liner - and a long lasting one at that! However, recently I've started using Eye of Horus' Goddess Pencil in Nubian Brown on my upper lash line and I've found the longevity incredibly impressive. Not only does it not smudge or transfer, but it makes it through the entire day without needing any touching up. Plus the shade is a really flattering dark matte brown that's just a touch less harsh than black, it gives a softer and slightly more natural looking finish that works really well with daytime makeup looks. I'm a big fan of Eye of Horus' eyeliners and Nubian Brown is definitely a must have shade for me - I can see myself finishing it up soon!

Although I did recently invest in a new mascara, I've actually been reaching for Green People's Volumising Mascara the most recently. On an everyday basis I do prefer to use products that don't irritate my eyes - both when I'm wearing them, and when it comes to removing them. Green People's Mascara is very long lasting for a natural mascara and only need minimal maintenance throughout the day. It gives my lashes a great dose of colour and length, and the right amount of volume for daytime makeup looks. I'm a big fan of Green People's products and the more I use it the more this mascara grows on me. I think it's the brush, it just has the most tremendous brush that catches every hair. It's slightly more expensive than "drugstore" mascaras but the difference in price is definitely worthwhile for all the benefits of using natural and cruelty free makeup.
