It's no secret that I'm a big fan of lipstick, it's just one of those beauty products that I always lust after! I recently did an overhaul of my lipstick collection and I realised that my Mac lipsticks were among the ones I reach for most often. Over the last couple of months I've made a few new purchases which I haven't shared on my blog, so today I thought I'd run you through the new shades that I've picked up.
Mac Lustre Lipstick in Call The Hairdresser! (LE)
I really like Mac's Lustre Lipstick formulation - they offer sheer washes of colour that are easy to wear and really easy to re-apply. My only issue is that the permanent collection doesn't have that many shades in the lustre formula and I own my favourite two colours from the range already (Syrup and Plumful). However, recently Mac released a limited edition collection packed full of lustre lipsticks and it was quite hard to resist picking them all up! In the end I opted for Mac's Call The Hairdresser! a bright sheer pink that really enlivens my complexion. Sadly, I find the formula of this lipstick much more drying than my other lustre lipsticks so this summer I haven't used it as much as I thought I would.
Mac Frost Lipstick in Odyssey (P)
I don't any other Mac Frost lipsticks but I was really taken by the colour of Odyssey. It's a rich purple with a very subtle frosted sheen, which I find really enhances the appearance of my lips. The colour can be just a tad draining on my complexion, but with the right blush and eye makeup I really love how this looks. I find purples much more flattering than reds, although they do have a tendency to look a lot more "vampy" and retro. All in all, I'm really happy I purchased this - even if it was on a whim!
Mac Matte Lipstick in Eugenie (LE)
As soon as I saw Mac Giambattista Valli's limited edition collection I knew that I wanted to own at least one of the lipsticks! I loved the colours, the formula and the packaging so it was a bit of a no-brainer. I was lucky enough to pop into Fenwicks on the day they were released so I was quite easily able to get my hands on Eugenie, my favourite shade from the collection. I also picked up Tats which I'm giving away in about a week's time! Eugenie is my first matte lipstick from Mac and it is everything that I thought it would be. It's so easy to apply and the longevity is incredible, I can really understand now why people have massive Mac matte lipstick collections. I'm really happy to own this and I can see myself wearing it a lot this autumn and winter.
