The Best Body Oils & When I Like Use Them

Body oils are one of those products that I couldn't go without. I moisturise my body every day but I very rarely reach for anything other than body oils. I love how quick and convenient it is to apply a quick-absorbing oil after my morning or evening shower, and they never fail to leave my skin feeling and looking so much better than before. If you're interested in trying a body oil but don't know where to start - or maybe you just want some inspiration on what to try next - then today's line-up might be of interest. I've shared all the body oils that I've got stashed in my bathroom (most of which I've repurchased at least once, because they really are the best I've come across) and I've broken them down into different categories based on when I use them. Roger & Gallet Hand and Nail Balms Review

Roger & Gallet are one of my favourite brands when it comes to anything scented. If you're a lover of perfumed beauty products - from hand creams to body oils, perfumes to shower gel - then Roger & Gallet will almost certainly have something for you. My favourite range is undoubtedly Fleur de Figuier which has is sweet, fresh and fruity, and incredibly more-ish.

I'm already big fan of using Roger & Gallet's Hand Creams as they're the perfect size - and have the perfect consistency - to use on the go. However, I was recently sent a couple of their Hand and Nail Balms - Roger & Gallet's Fleur de Figuier Hand and Nail Balm* and Roger & Gallet's Bienfaits Hand and Nail Balm* - and they're actually an even better for on-the-go application.

The Balms have the same gorgeous scents and the same packaging, but unlike the Creams they dry to a smooth matte finish on the skin. This means that they're better for using when you're busy as they absorb quickly. However, I also just really like that matte feel that products like this leave behind on the skin.  It feels like you've got a very thin layer over your skin, one that makes them feel absolutely silky smooth. I'm a big fan of the texture, and they'd be great for anyone who doesn't like traditional "wet" feeling hand creams.

Body Care Favourites from 2014

I discovered some incredible new body products this year, but I've also thrown in two long standing favourites that I would highly recommend!

Lola's Apothecary Rose & Geranium Body Oil*

First on my list is this incredibly nourishing and hydrating body oil from Lola's Apothecary. It makes an incredible difference to the feel of my skin and I found that the results I get from this body oil are better and more long lasting than any other moisturising product that I've tried so far. It has a pretty hefty price tag but it is absolutely worth the money. If you haven't already tried anything from Lola's Apothecary then you need to keep your eyes peeled, they're definitely a brand to watch!

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Ultra Nourishing Oil*

This is another incredible body oil and the scent is absolutely gorgeous! It isn't quite as nourishing as my previous mention but I've found that the product goes quite a lot further thanks to its handy spray top. This is a wonderful option for those with dry skin who are looking for long-lasting results with the addition of a beautiful fragrance. I've loved using this, I reach for it a lot and I've been really impressed at how long it's lasted me. It's a product that's definitely worth investing in!

Balance Me Rose Otto Body Wash*

I really love Balance Me's products and their Rose Otto range is quite simply beautiful. I've been a big fan of the scent of Lush's Flying Fox Shower Gel this year, but the quality of Balance Me's Body Washes completely won me over. It was a real pleasure to find something so nice to use that's also sulphate-free. I'll definitely be repurchasing it and I'm really looking forward to trying more products from Balance Me over the coming year.

Lanolips Intense Rose Hand Balm*

This was a last minute rediscovery! I loved this hand balm last year and got through a full-size tube pretty darn quickly because I couldn't put the stuff down. I recently was sent a half-size tube and it's been sitting in my handbag ever since. I can't believe I forgot to repurchase it this year, I think that in terms of effectiveness its on par with L'Occitane's Shea Hand Cream but I definitely prefer the formula of Lanolips' Intense Rose Hand Balm.

L'Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate
This will forever be a favourite of mine - it's one of those beauty products that I've loved from the moment I discovered it. Tom very kindly gave me a L'Occitane Almond Gift Set for Christmas and it's completely rekindled the fire in my heart. If you like gel-textured moisturisers that smell sweet and musky all at once, then L'Occitane's Almond Milk Concentrate might just be the next product that you need to try.

Winter Updates from Roger & Gallet

Roger & Gallet have consistently impressed me with their high quality products and gorgeous fragrances. Today I'm really pleased to be able to share some of their new (or newly repackaged) products with you! 

I was very kindly sent their Revitalising Fleur d'Osmanthus Body Lotion* and a Hand & Nail Cream Trio*. I haven't tried any of Roger & Gallet's Body Lotions before but I was really, really impressed by the Ultra Nourishing Oil so I've got high expectations for Fleur d'Osmanthus Body Lotion. I did, however, receive a similar trio last Christmas and I've been using the hand creams throughout the year - they have a light consistency, are easily absorbed and they smell incredible. I think this would make a wonderful gift - and you could even split the hand creams up, giving one out to three different friends. I'm nearly coming to the end of my beloved Roger & Gallet Ultra Nourishing Oil in Fleur de Figuier* so I'm happy to now have a Fleur de Figuier Hand Cream as it's my favourite Roger & Gallet scent! That's definitely the one that you might consider keeping for yourself…

Beauty Before Bed

This post is going to be talk you through my bedside beauty stash. Some months all you'll find here is a stack (a literal stack) of lip balms, other months it will be hand creams but sometimes I fall nicely into a little bedtime beauty routine, and that is exactly what I'm going to be sharing with you today.

First up is the night cream that I inevitably forgot to apply after my facial oil. I pulled Vichy's Normaderm Night* out from the depths of my stash last month and I'm a day or two away from finishing it for good. I'll be sad to see this go, it's a lovely balancing night time treatment for oily, blemish prone skin that's on the more sensitive side. Another product I always forget to apply is eye cream, so I've been keeping my Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream* close by for last minute applications. I've been really enjoying using this and I've noticed that my under eye area has become noticeably softer and is more hydrated since I started using it last month. Next up I pull out my This Works Deep Sleep Plus Pillow Spray and gently douse my bed linen in its lavender scent. I find that this does actually help me fall asleep as the scent is very calming. Whilst enjoying the aroma I move on to the last steps in my routine, which are always applying a lip balm and hand cream. I'm currently loving Malin+Goetz's Lip Moisturiser because it is incredibly thick and hydrating and seems to stay in place for an exceedingly long time, giving my lips every chance to drink up. I'm trying to use up my Roger & Gallet's Rose Hand and Nail Cream* because it's been lingering in my collection for about a year now. It isn't super hydrating but it has a pleasant delicate scent and sinks in quickly which is exactly what I want at the moment because afterwards I normally reach for a book!

The Scent of Summer: Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier

Roger & Gallet's Fleur de Figuier is the scent of my summer.

I was very kindly sent the Fleur de Figuier Gentle Shower Cream* and the Fresh Fragrant Water* and it didn't take me long to fall in love with both products. The scent of the Fleur de Figuier range is remarkably fresh and fruity - a mix of fig, mandarin and grapefruit offering a complex fragrance that's very more-ish.

Roger & Gallet's Gentle Shower Cream has a beautifully rich and thick consistency that foams up very gently leaving behind a delicate scent on the skin. It is Soap, Sulphate and Paraben free so it doesn't aggravate sensitive skin but still makes every shower feel incredibly indulgent. If you're a fan of beautiful scents that smell naturally fresh and fruity, or if you're looking for something Cruelty free that's suitable for both Vegetarians and Vegans, then I'd definitely recommend the Fleur de Figuier Shower Cream. It's taken pride of place in my shower - firmly knocking my previous love, Philosophy's Pumpkin Pie shower gel, off the top spot.

Roger & Gallet's Fresh Fragrant Water is a really lovely addition to a summer routine. I love the dinky 30ml bottle, it's portable and fits perfectly in my handbag. The scent is exactly the same as the Gentle Shower Cream and leaves a long-lasting scent on your skin or clothes. If you like layering your scents then they work wonderfully when you use them together. However, I also love the Fresh Fragrant Water for 'freshening up' on hot, stuffy days when I've spent too long on trains or sat in a library and want something to cheer me up and leave me smelling gorgeous.
