Go Cruelty Free with Beautiful Movements

one little vice beauty blog: cruelty free makeup

Established over 100 years ago, Cruelty Free International (formally known as BUAV) are an organisation dedicated to raising awareness and working to prevent animal testing. Cruelty Free International certify cruelty free products using the Leaping Bunny Symbol. The Leaping Bunny symbol is the only internationally recognised certification for cruelty-free cosmetics, personal care and household products. This symbol indicates that not only has the product itself not been tested on animals, but the entire supply chain has been audited and monitored to make sure that they also meet strict criteria.

I'm personally very interested in knowing, and sharing awareness, of what is and what isn't cruelty free. However, what exactly consistitutes as cruelty free can often be rather confusing. London Beauty Queen very recently wrote a very informative article that I'd highly encourage you to read, but, in short, the Leaping Bunny Symbol is the only internationally recognised guarantee that a brand's products are cruelty free. Many well-known beauty brands carry this certification (including Liz Earle, Burt's Bees, The Body Shop, Paul Mitchell, etc) as well as other lesser known brands.

I believe that it's everyone's personal choice to make whatever purchasing decisions they want to make - but I do think that it's always good to be aware of what you're buying into. Today I'm going to be sharing my thoughts on some products from a beauty brand called Beautiful Movements who are Leaping Bunny certified. They're working with Cruelty Free International to help promote the Leaping Bunny symbol and to encourage more people to choose cruelty free products.

I'm really impressed with Beautiful Movements' powder blush. First of all, it's a talc-free powder which is great news for anyone like me who's sensitive to talc. It's also very finely milled and although it's a loose mineral blush it comes in very handy packaging that helps to reduce mess and waste. The colour itself is a beautiful pink which has a healthy dose of sheen to it, this really helps to enliven the complexion and produce a lit-from-within glow. I don't usually wear pink blushes but I really like this shade and this formula, and at £8.00 I think it's very reasonably priced.

I don't own many mineral eyeshadows, I tend to them quite a lot of hassle to apply but I also forgot just how stunning and pigmented they can look once applied. I picked the shade Dusty Road in an attempt to move out of my comfort zone, plus I thought that a coppery-gold shade would be band on-trend. I've worn Dusty Road about four time now, and I've worn it alone - letting the bold colour speak for itself. It adds drama to my makeup without making me feel overdone. If you're not "into" eyeshadow and can't be bothered to blend and match lots of shades then I'd highly recommend Dusty Road as a one-wash of colour.

In addition, Dusty Road is also much easier to apply than I thought it would be. It isn't actually that messy and it blends really beautifully. I've tested it without a primer and found that it lasts very well but not all day, but when applied over the top of a primer it really doesn't budge! I think that this sort of shade looks so pretty against blue eyes, but it's a very versatile shade I also think it would look really lovely on someone with a much deeper skintone than my own. Overall, I'm really impressed and think that Beautiful Movements' Mineral Eyeshadows are ver good value for money, I'd definitely recommend them and I'll definitely consider buying some more.

This is another nice product from Beautiful Movements, housed in the same sort of packaging as the blush. This Finishing Powder is really finely milled and applies very lightly and evenly onto the skin offering a very subtle radiance. It isn't enough to make you look shiny, or for this powder to be suitable for your highlighter, but it is enough to add just a touch more radiance to your skin - something that powders often don't give. On their website, Beautiful Movements suggest that this finishing powder can help blur the appearance of imperfections but I find it a little bit too light and fine to make much of a difference. All in all, this isn't the most exciting product but it is an excellent finishing powder and as it's talc-free it's a very welcome addition to my daily makeup routine!
